Our client is one of the most advanced refineries in Europe, they produce over 16% of the UK's fuel, and are a major supplier within the Northwest.

Summary of Role:

  • Develop, grow and maintain a range of prospective and existing accounts for our client within the Homebase portfolio.
  • Ensuring targets on volume, profitability and payments are met and DOA always adhered to.
  • To Develop new markets for our client, as opportunities are opened via current or new terminal locations, support the continued growth of Homebase coordinating between Supply, Sales Support and the wider Marketing team to deliver additional margin growth opportunities.
  • Support sales into the Reseller channel and other Marketing business sectors by providing day to day pricing support where necessary, the successful candidate will also be expected to build long term profitable customer relationships.

What will you be doing?

  • Account management of a specified portfolio of customers to deliver the sales plan on margin and volume, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements including payment terms and credit limits.
  • Identifying and converting new credit worthy business opportunities that enhance the overall portfolio.
  • The candidate must be able to develop and maintain long term relationships with customers at senior level right up to boardroom, while co-ordinating the activities of our internal and external service providers to achieve our overall sales targets.
  • Providing continuous margin improvement using analysis of business MI and via close co-operation with the wider business teams.
  • Providing technical and commercial understanding of the product and supply chain to create added value to the customer.
  • Negotiating and agreeing contracts with target customers within the parameters laid down within the manual of authorities.
  • Be responsible and proactive in HSSE issues affecting customers, staff and business partners.
  • Providing insightful business analysis enabling better decision-making, tender costing, volume tracking, and customer profitability analysis for the portfolio.
  • Utilising margin and volume data to steer business decisions and optimise sell out pricing across the Commercial business by reacting to real time market, customer and competitor information.
  • Providing administrative support across the Marketing business, when required, including purchase order set up and processing, account reconciliations, reporting and rebates.

What hours will I work?

  • Normal Office hours
  • Role will mainly be remote working

An ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to Identify target customers for the client
  • Actively seek opportunities to increase the value of new and existing customers through the development of a deep understanding of the customer's business needs.
  • Ensure deal compliance on customer contracts to guarantee achievement of agreed targets.
  • Be capable of high-level negotiation with senior management to achieve win/win scenarios.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the key competitors, including their strengths and weaknesses, to enable any opportunities to be exploited.
  • Work with the clients wider marketing and trading team to provide efficient cost-effective services to the customer that generate additional margin via new offerings or by reducing the cost to serve.
  • Have previous experience in a sales/business development role preferably in the fuel sales sector or associated markets or other equivalent industries.
  • Demonstrate technical literacy, understanding of the fuel market, supply chains and a desire to learn in a wide-ranging business environment.
  • Be able to work well in teams, showing a positive approach to challenges and change is a key requirement.
