My client are a leading Tier 1 main contractor, due to an extensive amount of Projects in the Manchester area they are in the market for two Assistant Design Managers. You will be based on site on one of there large city center projects. Shadowing and supporting the Design Managers.

My client has a range of new build projects within commercial, residential and hotel sectors. One of the projects in mind is a value of 60million.

The successful Assistant Design Manager will have experience working on large design and builds, ideally for main contractor. Those from architectural backgrounds will also be considered.

As an Assistant Design Manager you will ideally have experience having worked with View Point.

Some responsibilities include;

  • design process to produce accurate information in line with the agreed specification and cost plan / estimate. Project team acceptance of completed design.
  • Proactively manage the appointment of consultants and ensure that they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services.
  • Produce a design programme with the consultants to meet the agreed whole life programme dates.
  • Evident leadership and control of design meetings with actions completed in a timely manner.
  • Produce designs that meet all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals and record on appropriate tracking logs.
  • Obtaining necessary approvals within the agreed timescales.
  • To conduct their role in a way which is consistent with the company's sustainability objectives.
  • Maximise all value engineering opportunities.
  • Design contingency expenditure minimised and savings generated against original budget. Provide technical support to the bid process.
  • Engage with the project team and CDM Coordinator to mitigate all health and safety risks.
  • Project team sign off of health and safety elements of design.

Experience Required

Proven experience of: * Contracting experience of at least 5 years. * Various forms of construction technology. * Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project. * An understanding of CAD. * Management of multiple projects or projects of a complex nature or high value.
