Job Description

My client is a specialist Sub Contractor in the design, fabrication and erection of Structural steel for Commercial, education, health and leisure Projects across the UK. They are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team. Working with the Commercial and Contract Management Teams, the role will be primarily focussed on supporting the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager to administer the various Sub-Contracts

  Duties and Responsibilities

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you would be responsible for;

 

  • Taking-off drawings and measurement of the works in accordance with the various standard methods of measurements
  • Assisting with pricing Variations and Compensation Events under the Standard Forms of Contracts
  • Assisting with the preparation and issuing of interim valuations
  • Assisting with preparing and agreeing final accounts
  • Assisting in the analysis of tenders and preparing Cost Value Report’s for reporting to senior staff and directors

 

Essential Skills

  • Good IT skills with competency at Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good time management
  • Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure
  • Can demonstrate being a self-motivated team player and a good communicator
  • A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
  • To have good spoken and written communication skills
  • To be methodical, pay attention to detail and be accurate
  • To be self motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks

 

  Desirable Skills & Qualifications

 

  • A track record in academic achievement, GCSE’s, A-Level’s, etc.
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying and / or a proven track record of relevant experience – Or working towards your degree
  • Full Driving Licence
