My client is a mid-size design and build construction company, with projects ranging between £3-£10million. They are looking to increase their team at their Yorkshire office, with a buyer who is experienced in procuring supplier base materials, and plant equipment. Experience in procuring for construction is essential, but flexible. As a buyer, you will be reporting to the Senior Buyer and MD.

You will be self-motivated to work autonomously and manage your own workload and diary efficiently, and have excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Taking responsibility for buying construction goods and services to Labour, Plant and Materials for a multi-million-pound main national contractor, with projects predominantly in the north of the UK
• Liaise with site managers regularly, ensuring all labour, materials and deliveries are on time and in full
• Ensure the procuring of materials meets the build programme for all projects
• Working alongside the estimating team to set the project budgets as requested
• Pricing up all materials and plant at the tendering stage for projects, and suppling prices to the estimate team, including groundwork materials, sub structure etc, making sure all potential price increases are factored into the costings.
• Meet suppliers on a regular basis and negotiate the best rates with annual price increases
• Attend pre-start up meetings for work won and input into the meeting where required to resolve material specification issues
• Check and authorise payment purchase invoices, materials and resolve queries of invoices
• Follow company procedures and educate Sites and new employees on purchasing procedures
