My client is looking for a Buyer to join their North-West office. You will be responsible for administering and managing the purchase of materials within given budgets and timescales. As part of the role, you'll be expected provide technical assistance and knowledge with colleagues to share good practice and to maintain competitive pricing

Main Duties:

  • Take off and scheduling material quantities from drawings
  • Managing materials procurement schedule
  • Ensuring work is on track by arranging and attending regular meetings with the procurement / contract team
  • Obtaining competitive quotations in a timely manner
  • Secure fixed price agreements for materials (esp. bulk)
  • Managing contract costs in relation to materials inc. problems, wastage, site losses, performance of suppliers

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relative work experience working within a Buying department or function
  • A level 4 qualification OR have significant and substantial experience in a relevant role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of working in the construction / development industry
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of monitoring supplier performance and quality
