Russell Taylor are currently recruiting for a Control Systems and Software Engineer to work for an OEM that delivered the world's first robotic arm to operate inside a nuclear fusion reactor. The company work on the full project life cycle and focus on remote handling and complex plant assembly systems.
The successful candidate will join a small team responsible for delivering all control and software elements on a wide range of bespoke robotic solutions for hostile environments. They will be responsible for small packages of work under the supervision of the lead control and software engineer for each project. Based on performance you can quickly progress to have responsibility for larger packages and entire teams on a combination of long-term and exciting projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicants must have a 2:1 or 1st Class Honours degree in Control Systems and/or Software Engineering / Robotic or related fields.
Additionally, applicants must have reasonable knowledge (preferably also experience) in many, of the following areas and be prepared to gain knowledge of the others:
* Control theory
* OO Software development (all stages) (preferably C++)
* Actuator technologies
* Sensor technologies
* PLC and SCADA development (all stages)
* Robotics (Forward/inverse kinematics, trajectory generation, control theory)
* Motor drive technologies
* Requirements analysis
* Real-time software development and OS usage
* Client interaction
* Technical report writing
