EC&I Design Engineers

Russell Taylor are recruiting for several EC&I Design Engineers to work on a 6 month contract in the Wolverhampton area.

The Design Engineers will be expected to deliver the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation work packages of high integrity and complex control systems to Customer and Nuclear Industry Specifications.

The candidate must have a broad knowledge of designing complex systems in machine control applications and plant wide automation as well as being:
* Capable of producing technical & functional specifications and developing control systems from concept design through to final design, installation and commissioning.
* Having strong interpersonal and communications skills with excellent analytical, design and problem solving skills and be committed to maintaining high quality standards.
* Having a sound knowledge of and be experienced in the application of the latest relevant IEC standards and statuary legislation.

Key Activities

Produce EC&I designs to customer specification, ensuring technical accuracy and delivering of design projects satisfying time, quality and costs to the standards set by the engineering department. Main deliverables being:
o Control Panel designs - General Arrangements, Detail drawings, Schematics Diagrams, Interlock Diagrams for typically PLC & HMI hardware, Motor Starters & Drives, Safety Circuits, Instrumentation and Power Distribution.
o Electrical Installation Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams, Cable Calculations & Terminations Details.
o Specification of hardware and production of parts list.
o Manufacturing specification.
o Ensure company policy and procedures are being applied across the projects.
o Manage the interface between CE&I and the Mechanical function.
o Communicate at all levels with both internal and external customers to meet their expectations while meeting the project budget and programme constraints.
o Support the Lead Engineer in the delivery of scope to budget and programme.
o Support the Lead Engineer in the management and supervision of sub-contractors.
o Provide technical expertise to tenders as and when required.
o Provide input to the development of the CE&I function and resource.

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience:

o Degree, HND, HNC or relevant experience
o Proficient in the use of PC's - MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
o Proficient in the use of CAD - AutoCAD 2004 and Promis-e.
o Knowledge of Safety Standard IEC 61508 would be an advantage.
