Job Description

Main purpose of job

To ensure that the Engineering Team delivers the maintenance and integrity requirements for all infrastructure assets and equipment throughout the site, inclusive of the Terminal, port and pipeline equipment within a highly regulated upper tier COMAH establishment.
 
Key responsibilities
 
◦To ensure plant is managed in line with regulatory expectations as well as instrument protected equipment for emergency shutdown protected systems.
◦To act as program manager for the sites capital program.
◦Management of DSEAR regulations and ATEX equipment in line with BS EN 60079-10-1:2009
◦Lead, direct, coach and develop a highly skilled technical workforce
◦Deputise for the Operations Director when s/he is not on site and act as duty holder for electrical and mechanical assets s regulatory ensuring compliance in all instances.
◦Manage safety of staff and all sub-contract labour providers through proactive management and safe systems of work, for both major project and routine maintenance work.
◦Drive and deliver a proactive safety culture on site and strive for zero accidents/incidents
◦Drive continuous improvement of the infrastructure assets by delivering the preventative maintenance plan and the effective and efficient management of reactive maintenance
◦Maintain equipment in line with the agreed plans and achieve the business’s KPI’s and business drivers
◦Accountable for team compliance with statutory and internal legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, COMAH, ageing plant, asbestos control and internal policies and procedures
◦To undertake design calculations to assess the suitability of existing equipment to remain in service by reviewing against recognised design codes and standards
◦To undertake equipment/pipework fitness for service calculations where outside of recognised design codes
◦To provide visible day to day mechanical engineering support to departments, advising on technical mechanical issues to ensure compliance to engineering standards.
◦Maintain the piping classes current, and ensure that through the piping classes, the end to end process of piping and component specification through to procurement is maintained.
◦Produce and document a “Critical Spares “list for site.
◦Ensure the re-ordering of spares is carried out in a swift and timely manner and all necessary equipment / spares are on site to allow smooth plant operations.
◦Install / maintain and update the stores system on site.
◦Monitor and maintain good housekeeping within the stores/ workshop/ container areas.
◦Set up machinery files as defects and repairs occur to build up a data base.
◦Document all pumps and heat exchangers on site in file and maintain records of cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
◦Organise any shutdowns that may be required to carry out maintenance or repairs.
◦Ensure Preventative Maintenance is carried out as required and a maintenance programme is in place and documented which will include planned site visits and reports.
◦Ensure fire register is maintained and up to date
◦Ensure all work undertaken is done so in accordance with company policy and in a safe manner.
◦Manage the Capital Expenditure programme for the site
◦Ensure all preventative maintenance systems meet with external requirements i.e SEPA
◦Ensure quality checks are carried out accurately and all required data is recorded as required.
◦Use specified running methods to ensure the plant is operated as specified.
◦Highlight deviations from standard and implement corrective actions as required.
◦Ensure a thorough knowledge of your Health & Safety responsibilities.
◦Always wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care.
◦Always strive to work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately.
◦Ensure all staff and visitors operates in compliance with Safety regulations
◦Full responsibility for the safety of team members
◦Actively participate in addressing Safety, Health and Environmental issues affecting the production areas, ensuring the relevant S, H&E checks are carried out.
◦Full knowledge of the Emergency Procedures and associated responses are required

The successful candidate
 
◦HND (or equivalent) Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering
◦A combined Mechanical/Electrical qualification would be advantageous
◦Project management qualification would be advantageous
◦Previous experience working in a maintenance role is essential, including preventative maintenance management, stock control and the practical application on engineering solutions
◦Previous experience of fuel handling is essential
◦Previous experience of fuel bulk storage is an advantage
◦Experience on COMAH sites is an advantage
◦Computer literate with a good understanding of excel spreadsheets
