Fabrication shop manager

Cheshire

Role

Assist the Fabrication Shop Manager with managing and co-ordinating a busy fabrication shop on a day to day basis, organising work schedules and planning resources for time constrained projects. Provide technical information and support of team of 20 Fabricator/Welders

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor will have responsibility for:-

  • Assist with the management and coordination of complicated projects including staffing, materials, schedules, sub-contractors etc. to exacting standards
  • Maintaining schedule of work with the ability to reschedule if required at short notice
  • Interpretation of drawings
  • Maintenance of accurate records of both build process and man hours used
  • Travelling to specified on-site work, if required
  • Ensure that health & safety standards are complied with including CLAW regulations and specific duties relating to them. Ensure work area is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensure that work conforms and complies to the Company's Quality Management System and advice the Cell Leader of any quality issues that may arise
  • Ensure that the Company's Environmental Management System (EMS) standards are complied with

Qualifications and experience required

  • Good standard of education
  • Literate and numerate
  • Computer literate
  • Time Served Fabricator/Welder
  • 2/3 years' experience in similar position
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external and internal contacts
  • Previous project management and supervisory skills
  • Good knowledge of quality procedures
  • Background in fabrication/or strong understanding of fabrication
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Self-starter - able to work on own initiative
