Location: Luton

Type: Permanent

Salary: £18,500- £21,000 depending on experience

Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Russell Taylor Group LTD are working exclusively with a major - testing company and part of a big group. We are looking for six Graduate Chemists' who will work at their modern - purpose built, state of the art facility. They have amazing equipment and investment/s going in the company. The successful candidate/s will gain second to none training using techniques GC-MS/GC FID, GC MS/MS, LC/MS, HPLC etc as you are inducted through their training programme.

The Role:

This is an important role, being responsible for the preparation and extraction of samples, covering a wide range of environmental contaminants in different sample types. Working under a Senior Analytical Chemist, the Extraction Chemist will manage their own workload and collaborate closely with colleagues in a small team to ensure that work is completed on time and to the required standards of quality.

  • Following the established quality procedures to perform various types of sample extraction and preparation.
  • Maintaining a working stock of consumables and chemicals, which are essential to perform daily activities and tasks.
  • Responsible for conducting a range of laboratory checks, including calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that all other routine laboratory tasks are completed to ensure that the Laboratory operates smoothly.
  • Learning techniques like: GC-MS/GC FID, GC MS/MS, LC/MS, HPLC and being able to report results effectively (once trained) on their LIMS system.

The Person:

  • Will hold a Degree in a relevant Chemistry based discipline (forensic etc will be considered)
  • We will consider an A Level student for Extraction roles too.
  • Will ideally have exposure to techniques like (GC-MS/GC FID, GC MS/MS, LC/MS, HPLC)
  • Will ideally have placement experience working in a lab setting
  • Strong interpersonal, organisation skills
  • Able to work towards deadlines
  • Good IT skills
