Role: Head of Quality - Engineering / Goods / Laboratory

Russell Taylor Group has a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Quality to manage Engineering, Goods in/out and the Laboratories. This is an excellent opportunity to manage, coach and develop all the Quality Departments. You will have a least 5 years' experience within a similar role and have worked in either the Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals industries.

This role is imperative to the day to day quality control and improvement of manufacturing processes


  • Management, coaching and development of the Quality Engineering & Control teams - Quality Engineering, QC Labs, In Process Quality Assurance (IPQA), Product Release & Technical Specialists
  • Work in partnership with Operations to improve manufacturing processes and control systems
  • Planning, directing and assigning work across the team
  • Manage, monitor and improve key operational processes:
  • Goods Receiving/Release
  • Process control and routine monitoring
  • Product Quality Plans and control strategies
  • In-Process and Batch Release inspection/test processes
  • Complaint, NCR, CAPA investigation and root cause determinations
  • QE&C metrics reporting to internal management and external customers
  • Represent Quality function on key project teams (e.g. new product introduction, product design, materials, packaging and process changes)
  • Deputise for other Quality Team Management as required
  • Comply with site Health and Safety procedures.


  • Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or scientific discipline
  • Demonstration of an appropriate level of knowledge, ability and experience in quality management and control aspects
  • Line management experience
  • 5+ years management experience in Quality Engineering & Control within a medical device / pharmaceutical environment
  • Working knowledge of Quality System and Regulatory requirements
  • Quality improvement initiatives - data-driven approach using appropriate TQM tools
  • Ability to communicate and co-operate effectively at all levels across different functions.
  • Six sigma trained (green or black belt level) - preferably certified
  • Good organisational and project management skills, project and team leadership
  • Proven problem solving ability
  • Able to learn a wide range of technical subjects outside of normal area of expertise
  • Strong capability to influence at multiple levels within the organisation
  • High level of resilience and enthusiasm required with an ability to problem solve to drive improvement
