Role: Laboratory Analyst, Chemical manufacturer

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £21-26K DOE

Russell Taylor Group has a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory-based activities for a fuel/oil/waste handling company. This is a good opportunity to work on days shifts 8-5pm. This will suit someone who has a passion for science and chemistry, whilst building on existing skills and producing reliable results.

About the role:

  • Receiving, labelling, and analysing samples (processed fuel oil/ diesel/ kerosene etc.)
  • Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, reporting results to relevant personnel or quality control charts.
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify or reject hypotheses utilising refined scientific method.
  • Organising and storing all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Recording results in specified forms with accuracy and responsibility
  • Maintaining equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
  • Ensuring all safety guidelines are followed and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience working as a lab technician or other relevant position - full training will be provided
  • Will hold a degree in a relevant Chemistry based discipline
  • Previous work in ISO 17025:2017 laboratory would be advantageous
  • Experience in operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel in particular) and database systems
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
