Job Description

You'll be an expert in one of the following disciplines, and familiar with several others: digital hardware design, analogue hardware design, RF design, FPGA, verification and test, mechanical design or embedded software. With experience of working in an engineering research and development environment you will be technical leader for a multidisciplinary project team with responsibility for delivery new products. You will take technical ownership of the complete product.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will join a small, friendly team and will demonstrate your ability to work well alongside people with various skill sets. You will have experience working with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure your product makes a smooth transition into volume production and will have experienced the full product development and manufacturing introduction life cycle for certified products.

With client facing experience and excellent communication skills, you will be able to lead technical discussions with colleagues and clearly convey complex technical concepts to clients and contractors. You'll be capable of delivering accurate technical documentation with great attention to detail. You'll have a confident outlook and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge and experience of certification of products and design manufacture will be an advantage, as will a knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment interfaces. Ideally, you'll have a passion for aviation.

Whilst avionics is an advantage, applications are encouraged from engineers in other sectors, such as medical device, automotive and the oil and gas sector where relevant skills and experience are compatible. Experience of leading cross functional teams is highly desirable.
