Job Description

I am recruiting for a maintenance planner to work for a leading provider of services in the process, energy, and high complexity industrial sectors. Within this role you will deliver assigned asset management compliance improvement and projects, meeting our client's maintenance operating plan. You will also deliver projects and improvements within the engineering and maintenance department and be consistent with meeting operational requirements and delivering against agreed contract KPIs.

Major Duties

The main duties are:

Being accountable for all assets under the specific discipline in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and for maintaining accuracy, creation, amending and deletion of entries and up to date CMMS.
To set, implement and maintain effective maintenance systems, strategies, projects, and processes for all assigned CMMS assets ensuring required performance and compliance are delivered and maintained.
Provide appropriate guidance and hands on support to px SCP personnel and customers on instrument engineering matters including shutdowns, unplanned/planned events, incidents, projects, mods, and improvement activities. Seek technical/SHE guidance when necessary. Stop jobs if unsafe or unsure.
Ensure technical documentation is accurately and consistently sourced, stored, updated, communicated, and as appropriated complete root cause analysis activities.
Manage hazardous area inspection systems including timely inspection organisation and action close out.
Deliver projects consistent with our client's project management procedures, ensuring changes are raised and approved via the 'Management of Change' process. When required, support client managed projects.
Lead and manage assigned contractors and other personnel, setting and maintaining standards for personnel providing supervision, development, welfare, capability, and competence assessment.
Apply appropriate instrumentation engineering knowledge and experience enabling timely rectification of engineering and maintenance issues affecting safety, availability, reliability, and production.
Deliver improved plant reliability through adopting structured reliability improvement processes
Be active in safety schemes providing support, reporting, and implementing actions. To include reporting, investigations, audits, housekeeping and supervision to safe working systems standards.
Provide support to others including delivering technical training and coaching to support competence.
Represent our client's interests at cross site functional group meetings and support improvement processes In line with competence and business need, be a member of the Site's Incident Management Team.
Portray the role of Instrumentation Engineer in a positive and professional manner. Remain up to date with engineering best practice, industry trends and legislation maintaining and developing competence.
Contract owner for assigned contracts delivering efficiency and performance through performance and quality audit and appropriate KPIs.
Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards. Complete & encourage others to complete observation conversations, audits, and reporting.
Remain up to date with engineering best practice, industry trends and legislation, completing required training and development activities to maintain and develop competence.
Support technical safety reviews e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, RBI, functional Safety compliance etc.
Provide cover and support for other roles outside core discipline in the support of continued safe and reliable operations and your own personal development.


HNC or equivalent in an instrumentation or electrical discipline.

Higher Qualification in instrumentation or electrical.
Professional accreditation
