PhD/ Graduate Metallurgist/Material Scientist

Type: Permanent

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE

Location: Merseyside (Wirral and Liverpool combined); site based

Russell Taylor Group LTD is excited to announce we have partnered up with a leading testing company who are rapidly expanding and have built a purpose-built Laboratory on the Wirral with new equipment and new facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to work as part of a global team; playing an integral part as the Metallurgist/ Materials Scientist - Expert.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sample handling, preparation and testing.
  • Liaising with clients with updates, quotes and test data.
  • Assisting with metallurgical forensic investigations. Documenting samples and preparing reports.
  • Operating equipment such as SEM, optical microscopes, chemical analysis equipment and mechanical test equipment.
  • Preparation of marketing material, reviewing test requirements, reports and other admin tasks as necessary.
  • Travel to site as part of investigations.

The Person:

  • Will hold in Degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy Degree
  • Any previous experience of working within a commercial laboratory would be a benefit.
  • Previous experience of using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy.
  • Any experience of routine metallurgical testing.
  • Experience of quality systems and operating under industry standard accreditation.
  • Previous experience of writing test procedures and working to standards.
  • Enthusiasm for science and technology, particularly material science.
  • The ability to listen and communicate efficiently and effectively.
  • The ability to multi-task effectively.
