Job Description

Russell Taylor are actively recruiting for a Senior Product Safety Engineer to work for a global provider of testing, inspection and certification services in Chester.

The Position

A Product Safety Engineer is required to join our Client's team working on compliance testing and certification of industrial / ordinary location equipment to UL/IEC 60950-1/60065 and 61010-1 standards.

Prior extensive experience of compiling performance test plans for industrial / ordinary location equipment to the requirements of UL/IEC 60950-1/60065 and 61010-1 standards is essential, along with the ability to complete standalone evaluations to IEC based International and EN (61010-1, 60950-1, 60065) Standards.

Good communication, problem solving and project management skills are essential.

Primary responsibilities and duties include:

* Assessment of equipment for certification against published standards
* Provide advice to clients as appropriate
* Specify and in some cases conduct appropriate test programmes in accordance with the relevant standards
* Estimate costs and specify the requirements for test samples
* Conduct on-site assessments and/or test work at the clients' premises. This may involve foreign travel
* Prepare reports and certification documents
* Ensure that project work is conducted within budget and in accordance with in-house procedures
* Represent the company on relevant technical committees

There will be a requirement to travel to other Group or client's premises, both in the UK and overseas.


Qualifications/skills and experience

Suitable candidates shall meet the following criteria:

* A degree in electrical engineering and relevant experience.
* Prior experience in certification is highly desirable for the following standards; Canadian and US 61010-1, 60950-1, 60065, UL 508 and international standards IEC/EN 61010-1, 60950-1, 60065 although other relevant experience would be considered
* Specific experience of Power Supply Safety Testing preferred
* Good written and verbal communication (English), administration and interpersonal skills, together with a high level of computer literacy (Word, Excel etc) and attention to detail.
* The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team.
* Ability and willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas for short periods
* Ability to apply technical judgements where necessary.
