Job Description

Key tasks and deliverables

  • Establishing a Project
  • Establishing new projects using best practice techniques Project Management
  • Managing the delivery of technical initiatives, including cloud, infrastructure
  • Ensuring that projects achieve agreed objectives within time, cost and quality constraints
  • Being responsible for tracking and reporting progress
  • Working closely with the technical managers and their teams to ensure a smooth transition to live operation teams.
  • Support the Programme Manager to delivering the programme’s objectives Governance, Control and Management
  • Applying and promoting the use of best-practice project management methods
  • Dealing with escalations of issues, including changes, time scales and risks being originated either in directly managed projects, or smaller projects needing escalation management support
  • Managing risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies, either of directly managed projects, or smaller projects needing management support
  • Being responsible for financial management and commercial controls of their projects and initiatives People and Organisation
  • Managing both internal and external resources (including suppliers) that are allocated to projects Supplier Relationship Management
  • Managing external suppliers across the lifecycle of the project

 

Experience Required

  • Experience of successfully managing and delivering a significant technical projects
  • Excellent understanding of Cloud technologies, including Office 365 implementations
  • Experience of understanding and experience of UK public sector procurement
  • A good understanding of the UK Government business context, the strategic challenges ahead and the use of technology and information within UK Government and the wider UK public sector
  • Excellent understanding of modern, agile development, project, programme and portfolio methodologies and experience in their use.
