Job Description

  • Promote process safety leadership as the core of the organisation's culture.
  • Be a key contributor to the Engineering Team to support them to meet the business and team objectives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered fully compliant, with company policies, procedures and legal requirements, particularly safety and ensuring safe systems of work.
  • Manage staff time and resources to ensure well controlled, compliance with the Working Time Regulations and meet responsibilities for health and safety.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Consistently maintain a professional approach in day to day activities.
  • Ensure effective and appropriate communication at all times.
  • Report on activities and provide relevant management information.
  • Maintain high standards of probity and confidentiality.
  • Ensure activities are in accordance with the Agency's accounting procedures. This includes the proper authorisation and timely submission of expenses.
  • Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of assets, equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
  • To be a key contributor in the planning budget forecasts for submission to the Leadership Team for approval in line with OPA's agreed Business Strategic Plans, and to manage projects within budget.
  • Provide budget proposals for Project spends and work collaboratively with Finance to provide management information for monthly reporting.
  • Work with third parties for successful delivery of the Capital Projects.
  • Be a focal point for communication.
  • Manage the organisation's resources to fulfil the needs of the project.
  • Inform external stakeholders of the responsibilities under the COMAH Regulations.
  • Ensure that projects are completed in line with company standards and relevant and UK / European legislation, ATEX, PLSG, API, EEMUA etc., to allow future operation by OPA.
  • Ensure input is provided by OPA for Scope of Works produced by the project consultants.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts for projects.
  • Liaise with Senior Management team to obtain buy-in from stakeholders for delivery of key projects.
  • Liaise with other members of the Engineering Team on standards and codes.
  • Assist in the selection of suppliers in line with relevant legislation and Agency procedures.
  • Produce detailed programme of works/Gantt charts etc. to monitor progress.
  • Working knowledge of COMAH, MOC, and CDM regulations to ensure compliance of projects delivered.
  • Additional ad hoc project works outside the Capital Project programme as required.
