Quantity Surveyor - Sunderland

House builder

Negotiable salary £40,000 - £50,000 (Depending on experience and level)

Car allowance

My client are an award winning house builder and they are looking to recruit a quantity surveyor to join their expanding team in the Sunderland area.

This role is site based and it consists of looking after your very own development to produce, manage and forecast build costs for allotted site within the North East area. The Quantity surveyor they are looking for will procure all necessary subcontract trades and manage the payment process and subsequent contractual obligations.

Responsibilities include: all the production of site start budgets, you will procure all subcontract trades involving other key members of the team ensuring best value is obtained and all subcontractor prequalification criteria have been satisfied. You will manage the payment process for subcontractors and help the other members of the payments team to ensure payments are made in accordance with the agreed payment terms. Evaluate and if appropriate, approve payments of Dayworks and applications for both labour only subcontractors.

In accordance with the prescribed timetable, review and agree monthly site valuations, including cost to complete assessments using the approved system. You will also attend management team/department meetings at various locations which may be outside of the usual workplace. You will work closely with the Build Manager, host regular meetings with subcontractors to review performance. Management of agreed performance indicators including regular updates to the Group Commercial Director/Regional Director.

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skill
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Be methodical, accurate and have a goody attention to detail
  • Be good at working with people at all levels
  • Be self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • To have good general business and commercial awareness

The role will be varied and deadline driven, so excellent prioritisation and organisational skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record within the house building industry and it is essential that you are a confident communicator, proficient with Microsoft packages, with ideally experience in a similar role/environment.
