Senior Commercial Manager

My client is a national specialists within the fit out and refurbishment sectors, that have a current requirement for a senior commercial manager. The successful candidate will have significant commercial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role. With less hands-on experience and more ‘team’ management over a multiple of Clients/Frameworks/Projects, the successful candidate will have had exposure to managing a division commercially.
Overarching duties will include workload management, resource management, leadership, commercial advice, monthly reporting, and presenting at divisional board meeting.
The Senior Commercial Manager will lead and manage the day-to-day Commercial management of the regional Fit out division based in Warrington as well as oversee the overall commercial function in Warrington (covering National Frameworks).
While having a background in the fit-out of commercial / retail properties would be a perfect fit, this is not essential. Applicants should however come from a building background rather than a civil background.
What is essential is a successful track record in producing accurate financial reports for board / senior management approval from a varied range of sources, (and against tight deadlines, naturally).
While you will have the key QS attributes of tenacity, attention to detail and accuracy, this job involves a lot more than number-crunching. Leadership, mentoring strong interpersonal credibility and the ability to interact with and be mindful of clients’ needs, both of the internal and external varieties, all figure highly in the profile for this role.
You should have a sound understanding of the industry with excellent commercial awareness of how to maximise opportunities and profitability, and the ability to take the business forward to a unified and successful future.
You will be self-reliant with the ability to be self-disciplined in setting your own standards and expecting others to do likewise. You will have a tenacious character and unfazed by challenging questions from senior board members.

Additional Requirements to be considered for the role
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification – preferably with a post graduate qualification in construction law, commercial or project management.
- Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate professional experience, at least 5 years within the construction industry
- Senior level commercial experience on major construction project as well as multiple framework projects
- A demonstrable understanding of Financial Accounting processes.
- NEC3 knowledge
- Previous line management experience (able to demonstrate all aspects of senior management experience with management of resources)
- Hold a valid CSCS card
Some travel will naturally be involved with this role to visit live sites and meet with Clients and Consultants as necessary, with travel to there other offices as required. Therefore, a valid driving licence is required.
