Senior Power Electronics Engineer

A world class and innovative manufacturer of specialist electromechanical systems is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to produce the best equipment and keep the world turning.

This role is perfect if you're based near Cardiff, Newport, Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath, Swindon, Weston-super-Mare or Chippenham.

About You

Obviously several years' experience in the design and development of electronics is really important to be successful in this role. Engineers with degrees in Electrical or Electronic Engineering tend to do well also.

Most importantly you'll need to be able to design electronic hardware and software for power systems.

If you can work in a tightknit team, work to cost targets, follow the scientific method of investigation and liaise with suppliers and customers, then this is could be perfect for you.

About the Role

The main objectives of this post are design of power electronics and specification of motors for new products along with research into new drive technologies for actuation.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Researching new techniques for valve actuation
  • Design electronic hardware and software for power systems
  • Produce specs for new products
  • Oversea more junior team members and 3rd party contractors
  • Help mentor and coach apprentices and more junior engineers
  • Complete design reviews, audits and tests
  • Produce reports for your line manager and ensure all documentation is in line
  • Help other areas of the business with technical support where needed
