Specification Writer (Technical/NPD)

North-West Wales (on-site based role)

A fantastic independent manufacturer of sweet bakery products has a brilliant opportunity for a Specification Writer to join their team.


  • Creating customer specifications and pack copies for individual customer accounts.
  • Keeping customer specification systems (Evolve, Mcreate, Core etc..) updated with details such as BRC audits, contact details, and lives products etc.
  • Use recent raw material specifications for specification population - using the the approved supplier list as a point of contact for any concerns.
  • Generate and coordinate Artwork
  • Label sign-off and ensure that any marketing label "claims" are
  • Ensure any marketing label "claims" are validated with evidence (for example, health claims)
  • Cooperation with packaging sign off.
  • Comply to retail nutritional and allergen policy, sustainable palm/ cocoa policy, and additives policy.
  • Populating and averaging the nutritional data base with nutritional calculations using NutriCalc.
  • Attending NPD meetings.
  • Bar Code Generation by liaising with the QA department.
  • Send samples to customers as required
  • Be part of the HACCP Team and be an internal auditor.
  • Be the primary contact for specification related issues and customer complaints.

The Person

  • Must have previous experience working within a similar role
  • Ideally be educated to degree level in relevant field
  • Confident communicator- face to face and on the phone
  • Have excellent attention to detail and a numerate approach
  • Highly flexible, competent, and adaptable
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work independently
  • Be happy to work on site full time- no remote work is available.
