Job Description

My client is a multi-discipline consultancy that operates across numerous markets both nationally and globally. My client is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team in Birmingham.

Due to the ever growing and continuous increase of contract wins they are looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for providing a wide range of Structural Engineering services and you will be expected to work independently, although under the direction, and with the support of the Team Manager.


•Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures, and providing advice on any issues that may arise. Analysing and reporting on structural defects and remediation if required
•Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes
•Preparation of detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notes. By hand and computer aided techniques
•Preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender purposes. Production of Construction information for issue to Contractors. By hand and computer aided techniques
•Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors
•Day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office


•Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
•Minimum 5 years structural design experience in core materials; Concrete, Steel, Masonry, and Timber
•MIStructE Chartered membership, or working towards
•Placement years, or extensive on site experience preferable

Required Qualifications:

•Ideally MEng / MSc qualifications, ideally CEng
•Experience with AutoCAD
•Experience with TEKLA structures / SCIA design software, or similar
