Job Description

Role: Technical Assistant - construction, labour & trades

Location: Warrington

Salary: Entry Level + Shift allowance

Shifts: 37.5 hours/week - rotating shift pattern Monday-Friday 6am to 2pm Monday-Thursday 10am to 8pm

Russell Taylor Group has a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join a global testing and certification company. The ideal candidate will have an interest in material testing and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handling and preparation of test specimens including things such as fire doors and building products
  • Maintaining stock of steel selections on site by completing orders
  • Ensure compliance by verifying incoming steel samples
  • Manage paint storage and disposal with designated waste contractors
  • Liaise with other technical assistants to ensure test are set up in a timely way as per client's request
  • Liaising with contactors and third parties during application of paint to test specimens
  • Liaise with fabricating contractors to ensure specimens are prepared to set timescales
  • Assist in the preparation of test reports and carry out DFT readings where necessary
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety and supervise clients when onsite to ensure health and safety responsibilities are met

  • Supervise and co-ordinate with Shot-blasting contractor
  • Assisting with the preparation of samples (roller applied primer)
  • Completion of internal systems using FIREMAN and any other procedures were directed
  • Preparation of diagrams to show positions and instruments used

The Person

  • Have practical construction/skilled work/labour experience
  • Practical experience using construction/engineering tools (screwdriver, drill, measuring tape)
  • Knowledge of SOPs and working to strict Health and safety guidelines
  • Interested in material testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work shift patterns as advertised (including shift allowance)
