Technical Assistant/ Lab Assistant/ Science Graduate

Location: Warrington

Type: Permanent

Salary: £18,000

Additional: Parking onsite, company pension, life assurance etc

Our Client, who is part of a global testing & certification group - is looking to recruit for a Science Graduate to work as part of their state of the art, specialist fire testing laboratory in Warrington.

The successful candidate will be provided with second to non training and the chance to progress within the group.

The Role:

  • Conducting authorised tests and ensuring that the following stages of the work are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate Standard, UK Fire Test Study Group resolution, EGOLF resolutions and relevant Clients- Quality and SHE requirements
  • Preparation of test specimens
  • Determination of required physical properties of test specimens
  • Conditioning of test specimens
  • Liaising with client during tests (under supervision of immediate supervisor)
  • Operation of test equipment and conductance of tests
  • Assisting immediate supervisor with the preparation of test reports
  • Ensuring that target delivery dates are met and budget sales targets are achieved
  • Ensuring client satisfaction
  • Providing general assistance to immediate supervisor
  • Ensuring high standards of housekeeping are maintained
  • Liaising with Systems champion in respect of ordering general items by full utilisation of the Internal Goods Requisition Order Form

The Person:

  • Academic qualifications of minimum A-level in a science subject or equivalent, or a Degree in a relevant Scientific discipline.
  • Excellent literacy and analysis skills to read and interpret standards, operating procedures and test reports
  • Practical laboratory skills
  • Time management skills would be desirable
  • An understanding of calorimetry would be advantageous
  • Problem solving skills
  • A team player with a drive to develop themselves in order to provide excellent customer service
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • An interest in testing
