Role - Technical Officer (fire testing/chemistry/physics)

Salary - Up to £25,000

Location - North West England

Russell-Taylor Group have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join a global testing company within their expanding fire department. Our client is looking for an individual with a chemistry or physics background and who also has some industry experience within a testing lab.   • Be responsible for all aspects of testing (delivery, accuracy etc.)

  • Ensure tests meet the required standards this will involve reading, checking, interpreting and validating results
  • Ensure that any inaccurate results are investigated
  • Help provide support and training to junior members of the team
  • Prepare and document any test reports for clients
  • Provide support to clients (phone, email, meetings)
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Work closely with sales departments to provide forecasts
  • Collate COSHH assessments
  • Be involved with visits from UKAS
  • Regular use of CRM systems and IT packages

The person

  • BSc in science related field (chemistry or physics desirable) or equivalent
  • Industry experience in a testing lab which will include analysis and interpretation of test results
  • Knowledge or experience of spectroscopy techniques (IR, flame, AE, AA, NMR, UV)
  • Experience of training staff would be desirable
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Excellent decision-making skills
