Trainer / Assessor
Russell Taylor are actively recruiting for a Trainer / Assessor to work within the Oil and Gas industry. The role is home based with significant travel between Scotland and Southern England.
The role is to cover two main objectives. Firstly, to develop, implement and deliver learning, training, assessment and development activities and programmes to cover all roles within the organisation, with primary focus on all safety critical tasks/roles and Asset Technical posts operating within the COMAH regulated sites to assure the competency of staff (including apprentices) and contractors is maintained and ensure compliance with the regulations. The second objective is to coordinate and manage the apprenticeship and graduate programmes within the organisation.
The organisation operates within the Oil and Gas industry and is engaged in the operational and maintenance management of several Oil Terminals, of which there are several in Scotland and Southern England.
The organisation are in the process of implementing a Competence Management System. The role will require the post holder to support the Competence Assurance Manager / Human Resources Director with the ongoing implementation and expansion of the Competence Management System and any other HR related programmes. The post holder is required to have excellent knowledge of current learning and development processes, educational and accreditation structures, competency based assessment techniques and regulatory training practices relevant within a Top Tier COMAH environment.
Develop and deliver training material, incorporating safety, health, environmental and process safety information wherever relevant. Evaluate the effectiveness of the training at the appropriate level.
Manage the Engineering and Process apprenticeship schemes including recruitment, education, site induction, overseeing mentoring programmes and skills development to provide potential skilled technicians and Operators.
Manage the Graduate Programme scheme including recruitment, education, site induction, overseeing mentoring programmes and skills development to provide potential Graduate Engineers.
Coach, develop and coordinate the Terminal Assessors to ensure that they are assessing to the same standard at all times. This will include leading the audit process with regards to standardisation meetings and future requirements.
Support Competency Management System implementation in areas/facilities not yet engaged with the program, or not meeting established goals.
Recommend, develop and implement new procedures to improve effectiveness of training and development
An experienced individual, holding a relevant qualification in Training and Development or equivalent career experience in training competency management; with a working knowledge of Competency Assurance in relation to COMAH, preferably from within the oil and gas industry although other Major Accident Hazard industries would be considered. The individual must have a proven track record of developing, delivering training and development programmes, with good knowledge of instructional and demonstrational skills covering technical and operational subjects at all levels of a business including sound knowledge of coaching/ mentoring skills.
Desirable but not essential, the ideal candidate will have completed a recognised craft or process apprenticeship and worked for a number of years within a Training and Development environment, as well as having a formal instructor qualification
£40k plus 38 days holiday (including bank hols) and a 12% pension
