RUSSELL Taylor has joined the ranks of the UK's best regarded businesses after being awarded the prestigious Investors in People Silver Award.

The company is now among the top 8 per cent of organisations in the country to attain the award which is only given to those that can demonstrate excellence in developing and supporting staff.

The Wirral-based technical recruitment agency is also celebrating the news of a second honour from Investors in People - its Health and Wellbeing Good Practice Award.

Russell Taylor chairman Peter Russell described the two major achievements as a reward for the hard work put in by all staff at its Riverside Park headquarters in Bromborough, and Welsh office in Pulford.

He said: "We aimed high from the outset of the creation of the company to create a culture that distinguished Russell Taylor in a busy market place. I'm so proud of the team we've developed and the success they've been encouraged to achieve."

To obtain the silver award, Russell Taylor had to prove how the company uses its people strategies to achieve outstanding standards and deliver excellence in and learning and development. The rigorous assessment involved in depth staff interviews with issues raised including personal development, empowerment, individual & team contribution to the business, and corporate social responsibility.

The Health and Wellbeing Award was achieved due to Russell Taylor's investment in the workplace welfare of its staff to motivate and stimulate the 39-strong workforce.

Initiatives, other than many active fundraising events for local charities, include encouraging healthy eating practices via a Breakfast Club in the canteen, where employees can ensure a good start to the day, and a daily supply of fresh fruit provided by the company.

There's also a partnership with Willaston Physio, also based in Bromborough, who involve staff in supporting fitness and health, and providing activities such as Bollyfit classes. Jennifer Scott, Russell Taylor's Group HR and quality manager, was able to demonstrate the motivation of the team, including the proof that staff attendance was at 99.13 per cent in 2014, way above the national average for those in their business sectors.

Steve Burrows, managing director of Investors in People in the North of England, said: "Congratulations to Russell Taylor on their Silver accreditation and Health and Wellbeing Good Practice award. This demonstrates great people management practice and commitment to staff development and also shows a company committed to being the best it can be.

Russell Taylor has also announced that the company has once again passed its ISO audit with flying colours - five audits in four years and not a single non-conformance.
