RUSSELL Taylor Group is taking leading steps to bridge the talent gap between employers and a workforce vital to their future.

As part of its programme of introducing young people to the world of work, company chairman Peter Russell hosted a workplace experience for pupils from Helsby High School at the business’ Burton Manor headquarters.

The Year 13 BTEC Business students were given an insight into the multi-million pound technical recruitment operation and met staff who explained their roles to them and how their training and development within the company was setting them on the road to their own successful careers in the recruiting industry.

Peter also explained how recruitment of the right workforce to suit a business’ specific requirements was essential to ensure the successful rebuilding of the UK economy.

During the day, students were tasked with a series of interviews, numerical and reasoning tests and team activities. Their CVs and letters of application were scrutinised by the company’s experienced staff and their soft skills in teamwork and leadership assessed by Peter himself.

Peter, who has spent the past 30 years as a career coach and 17 years working with his son and daughter in creating a reputation as an enlightened family-focused business, said: “This event hopefully demonstrated what can be achieved when the gap becomes bridged between aspiring young talent such as this and inspiring employers.

“The commitment of Helsby High School to developing our future talent is exemplary and the young people who engaged with us are a true example of all that is great about the youth of today.

“The team here at Russell Taylor Group had an amazing experience with 13 fabulous students who, no doubt at all, have great careers ahead of them.

“It is incumbent upon all of us to now ensure they follow the right paths and realise their career dreams.”

The event was organised in partnership with West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce’s Young Chamber.
