Location: Near Howden, East Yorkshire
Salary: £33,696 + Benefits
Hours: 48 hours/week, 5-day rota including weekends and bank holidays
Reporting To: Harvesting Manager
Role Overview
Supporting the Harvesting Manager, you will oversee daily harvesting activities, ensuring high-quality standards, efficiency, and team motivation. This hands-on leadership role includes maintaining hygiene, health & safety compliance, and optimising labour across harvesting operations. You will also cover in the absence of the Harvesting Manager.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and allocate staff within harvesting areas for maximum output
• Monitor product quality (e.g., size, presentation)
• Enforce hygiene, health & safety, and product specifications
• Motivate and train harvesters to achieve performance targets
• Conduct pre- and post-harvest checks and manage forecasts
• Ensure accurate documentation and tool control
• Liaise with other departments to maintain smooth operations
• Support compliance with food safety (HACCP, VACCP, TACCP) standards
• Maintain cleanliness using clean as you go principles
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
Key Requirements
• Supervisory experience in a fresh produce or food manufacturing environment
• Excellent people management and communication skills
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• IT and numerical competency
• Willingness to work flexibly, including weekends and changing shift times
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate (required); HACCP (desirable)
