Our company brings together two dynamic divisions that work hand-in-hand to support sustainable land management. One side specialises in landscaping and tree surgery, while the other operates composting services at a local recycling facility, transforming green waste into high-quality landscaping products. We proudly operate across London and the Southeast, with this role based primarily at our head office near Haywards Heath in West Sussex.

We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic Health & Safety Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an ambitious health and safety professional who is passionate about making a real impact and eager to further develop their career in a supportive and progressive environment.

This full-time position is perfect for someone who already holds relevant experience and qualifications and is looking to broaden their expertise, take on new challenges, and play a key role in strengthening health and safety standards across a thriving organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take Control of the Health and Safety procedures and policies ensuring they are up to date and in line with legislation.
  • Maintain and further develop company health and safety management systems aligned with ISO45001. Have overall management of H&S system
  • Perform weekly/monthly safety inspections ensuring H&S standards and legislation are maintained and complied with on all sites, internally and externally.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses and gather all documentation in line with company polices.
  • Liaise with the working site teams to improve the working environment and reduce impacts to employees on operational activities as well as recommend process and product safety features that will reduce work hazards on sites.
  • Oversee the inspection of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment. Ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance, including property and facilities around the sites.
  • Producing RAMS, Method Statements and Risk Assessments and COSHH.
  • Good understanding of Environmental regulations.
  • Experience with LOLER (Lifting, Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) PUWER (Provision and Use of Working Equipment Regulations 1998) OHSAS 18001/ISO
  • Working with colleagues for management of relevant external audits including SMAS, Achilles, ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001.


Qualifications

• Expertise in Health & Safety and practical knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and practices
• NEBOSH Health and Safety certificate or diploma, or similar qualification.
• Experience of developing, delivering training and Toolbox Talks (TBT).
• Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
• LOLER qualification and First Aid is desirable but not essential.
• Knowledge of management systems standards such as ISO 45001
