Our client is a well-established and highly respected food labelling consultancy, providing expert advice and compliance solutions to many of the UK's leading food retailers and manufacturers. With a strong reputation for excellence, they specialise in ensuring product specifications and labels meet evolving regulatory, legal, and consumer standards. Due to continued growth and client demand, they are seeking a skilled Specifications Technologist to join their remote team.
Role Overview:
As a Specifications Technologist, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving product specifications and artwork to ensure compliance with UK retailer requirements and food labelling legislation. This is a client-facing role that requires a high level of attention to detail, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
·Review and approve product specifications and artwork in accordance with UK retailer standards.
·Interpret and apply UK food labelling legislation and regulatory guidelines.
·Provide clear, concise, and commercially relevant guidance on labelling and product information to clients.
·Communicate decisions effectively and advise clients on best practices for presenting food product information.
·Ensure alignment with internal policies, retailer guidelines, and industry standards.
·Stay up to date with changes in food legislation and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance and consumer relevance.
Key Requirements:
·Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
·Previous experience in a food technical or compliance role, ideally with exposure to retailer specification systems (e.g. Tesco TQC, M&S Find, Sainsbury's, etc.).
·Excellent understanding of UK and EU food labelling legislation.
·Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
·Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex regulations in a client-friendly way.
·Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with working in a remote environment.
