Our client was established in 1981 and have since been delivering fuel and lubricant products to both the commercial and domestic sector. They have been providing refuelling solutions for some of the largest UK, Irish and European transport companies. The client pride themselves on their customer service and extensive knowledge of the fuel industry.

Quick overview of the role:

  • The Senior Credit Officer will work as part of the existing Credit Team. They will be responsible for taking on new Credit Accounts, managing their own debtor's ledger and customer fuel spend versus Credit Limit as well as supervising the team with these essential tasks. This is a key role in the company analysing risk, minimising debt, and assisting the cash flow of the Morgan Group.
  • The position is a target-based role situated in the clients Belfast office, within a small, professional, and experienced friendly Credit team.

What will you actually be doing?

  • Analysis of customers financial statements and B2B Credit report to set and review Credit Limits
  • Collection activity through to litigation stage
  • Preparation of weekly / monthly reports
  • Aiming to meet set KPI's (individual & Team)
  • Project work with Head of Credit
  • Maximizing volume opportunities in line with business goals and targets
  • Statement preparation
  • Liaising with customers to conclude all queries
  • Involved in Credit checking new customers and opening new credit accounts
  • Ensure credit and cashflow is at the forefront to minimise debt, improve cashflow and avoid company losses
  • Completing monthly reporting as required
  • Work closely with our credit insurers to ensure that appropriate cover is in place
  • Daily check bank accounts for payments and returned direct debits
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the sales & account management teams
  • Contact debtors/ customers for outstanding payment and arrange payment plans as necessary
  • Process / run Direct Debits on a daily basis
  • Ensure all credit control procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Carry out Customer Account Reconciliations

What hours will I work?

  • The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm & Friday 8.30am- 4.00pm

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience - at least 3 years demonstrable experience in a Credit Risk Management position
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a target driven environment with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure
  • Highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with evident good telephone technique
  • The ability to supervise, work as part of team as well as on own initiative
  • Excellent Problem Solver with demonstrable ability to take accountability for your actions
  • Demonstrable commitment to confidentiality
  • Excellent IT Skills with proven experience in Microsoft Packages & excel
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Confident, enthusiastic, professional and pro-active approach


  • A current and valid driving licence and access to personal transport for business use/or have access to a form of transport
  • Experience in Credit Control within the Fuel Card Industry
  • ICM Preferred but not essential
