Senior Project Manager

Russell Taylor are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to work with a leading global Control, Automation and Drive System Integrator, who use the latest Automation technologies to deliver the best solutions to help their customers achieve their business objectives. The company work within, but are not limited to, the automotive, metals, marine, plastics, paper, transportation, materials handling and general manufacturing sector.

Based in Telford, our client are looking for an experienced Project Manager, preferably with knowledge or experience of control system solutions including PLCs, SCADA, HMI and Variable Speed Drives within the automation industry, to apply their skills for leading, planning, executing, and controlling project schedules, costs, and performance risks.

The role will require you to:

  • Collect all contractual obligations, commercial and technical information available from the sales & proposal stage
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks, ensure that team members have the tools needed and provide timely feedback
  • Establish the need of resources during each stage of the project, engage with the Engineering Teams to assess needs to understand, review and communicate requirements, and consequently manage accordingly
  • Proactively communicate project status and conduct regular meetings with stakeholders, whilst considering needs and requirements continuously
  • Troubleshoot technical issues when the need arises and escalate accordingly
  • Approve payments to subcontractors and buyouts suppliers
  • Keep track of document exchange with official document list and dedicated transmittals
  • Assess project issues and identify solutions to meet productivity, quality and customer goals
  • Secure quality and timely delivery of goods
  • Organise and attend FAT verifying the full availability of contract goods and needed documentation and instrumentation
  • Organise and attend site meetings and surveys with the customer
  • Be responsible for negotiation and price recognition
  • Follow up on the project during installation and commissioning stage, with particular focus on activities schedule and H&S topics
  • Obtain signed final acceptance certificate from customer
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge & Skills

  • University degree or HNC in an Engineering discipline
  • Formal qualification in Project Managing
  • Familiarity with the Automation industry is mandatory
  • Excellent verbal & written English skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
  • Willing to travel for approx 25% of the time throughout UK with occasional overseas travel
