An apprenticeship with Russell Taylor Group has given Calvin Summers exactly what he wanted for a career - a role in IT.

Junior support IT engineer at the company’s headquarters in Bromborough, Calvin, 24, has taken a circuitous route to the job of his dreams.

He had, he said, “always been around IT” and had grown up in an IT environment. However, he made some decisions that led him down a totally different career path.

He explained: “I initially went to university to take a degree in music production but left after a year. After that, I became a chef and did that job for five years.

“It was then I realised that all along I really wanted to work in IT - and that an apprenticeship was the right way to go about achieving this goal.

“Discovering this opportunity here and then getting the apprenticeship is the best choice I’ve made.”

Calvin joined the Russell Taylor Group team last September and is now working towards his Level 3 and 4 qualifications in IT.
