WHEN the going got tough, Russell Taylor Group’s Jennifer Scott was even more determined to keep going for a cause close to her heart.

Jennifer, the business’ HR, Quality and Facilities Manager, completed the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge – joined by her husband Iain - to raise vital funds for the ME Association.

So far, they have raised around £650 to help fund research into the disease that has affected Jennifer’s younger brother Simon.

Jennifer, who is based at Russell Taylor Group’s headquarters at Burton Manor, said: “I really didn’t know what to expect and was pretty nervous. Not only was I facing a physical challenge but the mud aspect was worrying too – I’m never normally without my anti-bacterial gel or hand wipes so I knew I was going to be pushed well out of my comfort zone.

“However, it was all about doing it for a good cause, one that’s particularly close to our hearts. I help to look after Simon, who has been suffering with ME for nearly 10 years, and we have watched him deteriorate to the point where he is now housebound.

“The money raised will go to the ME Association to help with research into finding a cure for this terrible disease. The world of medicine is moving on and, with this research, we hope and pray for a better quality of life for Simon in the future.

“The Tough Mudder challenge made us push ourselves to help Simon and thousands of others like him. It was probably the hardest thing we have ever done – but was so worth it.”
