Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Health & Safety Co-ordinator to join a historical local family run company
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will assist with compliance activities and support the delivery of our H&S strategy across a diverse range of operations, including commercial refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance and installation, facilities management activities and national project-based works.
You will support internal teams and sub-contractors, helping them to operate safely, legally and in line with our high internal standards, across client sites, workshops, and office environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Health & Safety Manager in the delivery and continuous improvement of our H&S management system (aligned with ISO 45001).
• Audits and site inspections across live project sites, FM contracts
• Monitor sub-contractor compliance and carry out sub-contractor safety audits.
• RAMS documentation
• Compliance of maintenance, installation and project teams.
• Maintain up-to-date records including safety inspections, accident logs, toolbox talks, training records and sub-contractor audits.
• Assist with the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents, accidents and near misses
• Safety inductions and briefings to new starters.
Areas for development (unless already attained)
• Stay informed on industry-specific legislation and best practice, particularly regarding FGas, electrical safety, CDM regulations and site-specific risks.
Key Requirements (not all essential)
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) - Essential.
• Experience in a similar H&S role, ideally within refrigeration, HVAC, building services, construction or FM sectors.
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations and site-based H&S coordination.
• Good working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and safe systems of work (including hot works, permit systems, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital tools for audits, reports, and training records.
• Full UK driving licence - Essential.
