A leading international engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on a flagship energy infrastructure project in West London.

The Energy division specialises in large-scale Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects across transmission and distribution networks. With a substantial forward order book and long-standing framework agreements in place, this is an opportunity to join a financially strong, growing contractor delivering nationally significant infrastructure.

The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for the project, leading the commercial team while ensuring strong governance, financial control and contractual compliance across the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
• Overall management of all commercial aspects of the project, maintaining regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders
• Building and leading the commercial team, setting objectives and managing performance and development plans
• Collating, analysing and challenging Cost/Value Reports and forecasts, implementing corrective actions where required
• Negotiating terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure appropriate risk allocation and best value delivery
• Designing and implementing commercial strategy across the project portfolio and supporting tender strategy where required
• Mentoring and developing Commercial Practitioners, including acting as supervisor/counsellor for those undertaking APC or equivalent
• Maximising project cash position, including WIP control, cash flow forecasting and improvement planning
• Advising on insurance-related matters, including Professional Indemnity considerations
• Supporting work-winning activities including client presentations and tender interviews
• Ensuring optimal commercial team performance, driving efficiency improvements and accurate resource forecasting
• Monitoring outturn costs through detailed bottom-up forecasting and monthly commercial reviews

Who Are We Looking For?
• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent preferred
• Registered with RICS / ICES
• Extensive knowledge of NEC forms of contract and Standard Methods of Measurement
• Strong understanding of project controls and programming techniques
• Proven leadership experience within major civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects
• Ability to synthesise complex commercial data and communicate clearly with senior leadership
• Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and build high-performing teams
