The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take full ownership of commercial performance across the project and wider portfolio.
A typical day will include:
• Managing all commercial aspects of the project and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.
• Leading and developing the commercial team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
• Producing, analysing and challenging Cost/Value Reports and forecasts.
• Negotiating subcontract terms that appropriately allocate risk and deliver best value.
• Designing and implementing commercial strategy for projects and tenders.
• Supporting work-winning activities, including client presentations.
• Managing WIP, cash flow forecasting and margin optimisation.
• Overseeing bottom-up cost forecasting and monthly outturn cost monitoring.
• Advising on insurance-related matters, including Professional Indemnity considerations.
• Mentoring and supervising commercial staff undertaking APC or equivalent professional development.
This is a leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and detailed commercial control.

About You
• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS preferred) or equivalent.
• Registered with RICS or ICES.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and standard methods of measurement.
• Proven experience leading commercial teams on major infrastructure projects.
• Confident decision-maker with strong commercial judgement.
• Able to synthesise complex data quickly and present clear situation reports to senior management.
• Motivated to mentor, develop and retain high-performing commercial teams.
